Helping rural populations through Priority Actions for Relief and Development

Christian Relief and Development Incorporated (CRDI) is a young organization that was initiated in March 2003. Its Board members and officials include motivated and highly experienced development agents (Nurses, Doctors, Pharmacists, Accountants, Teachers, and Rural Development Specialists) with extensive experience in health program planning, management, and implementation of activities that contribute to relief and development. Most of the CRDI Board members have worked for a variety of international development organizations including USAID, World Bank, and faith-based organizations.

ACHIEVEMENTS DURING THE REPORTING PERIOD

A.The achievements that are outlined below were made possible during the reporting period by the following:
1. Receipt of in-kind support from the health zone (donation of insecticides treated nets and the anti malarial drugs) that were used to support Malaria Control and prevention activities in then catchment areas of the Health center;
2. Receipt of in-kind support from the USAID-assisted programs that are managed by PSI/ASF in
3. 153 mothers (including their newborn infants) participated in the postnatal consultations and the health center;
4. 332 mothers decided to give birth at home and else where within Binza-Ozone health zone catchment areas that includes other hospitals and health centers.

PRE-SCHOOL CONSULTATIONS (EPI)
1. 1275 children less than 5 years of age participated in facility-based vaccination sessions during the year.
CURATIVE CONSULTATIONS 

1. 1155 pediatric consultations took place at the clinic during CY 2010;
2. 1572 adult curative consultations took place at the clinic.

Emergency surgical interventions 
1.16 C-sections took place at the facility level during CY 2010;


 
2. 20 appendectomies took place at the clinic during 2010; and

3. 11 hernias related surgical interventions (adults, children) took place during CY 2010 at the Health Center.

 Kinshasa, those support included donation of medical supplies (contraceptives) to support and promote the use of the clinic-based family planning services;
3. Continued in-kind and financial support from CRDI, the development partners (Cross-Link International), and private individuals in the United States.

ACHIEVEMENTS PER PROGRAM INTERVENTIONS

A. Provision of clinic-based health education sessions.
1. 48 health education sessions were carried out during CY 2010 and they included topics that included hygiene and sanitation, exclusive breastfeeding, and appropriate weaning practices.
2. 683 people (mostly mothers and care takers) participated in those sessions.

PRENATAL AND POSTNATAL CONSULTATIONS
1. 485 pregnant women participated in prenatal consultations;
2. 153 assisted and uncomplicated deliveries took place at the health center;
